WhatsApp was build up in 2009, by Brian Acton and Jan Koum, both former employees of Yahoo. WhatsApp is the most engaged top social messaging application owned by the giant Facebook Corporation. It allows users to send text messages, make voice calls, voice messages, video calls, documents, share images, user locations and many others. 

Telegram 
The telegram was launched in 2013 by brothers Nikolai and Pavel Durov, who previously founded the Russian social network VK, but had to leave the company after it was taken over by Mail.ru Group. Telegram is a cloud-based instant messaging and voice over IP service. It allows users to send messages and exchange photos, stickers, videos, audio and files of any type.

The channel is just similar to groups, which can accommodate that unlimited number of members involve. The creator of the channel can decide who can post and other members can view the posts.

You can communicate with anyone on telegram even if you do not have the contact number of others. This ensures the privacy of the user’s contact number. They have continued to send messages in a group without revealing your phone number.

Users on telegram can log-in on several devices at the same time and able to receive messages on all devices.They can remember of their sessions on even browsers too. This is a cool feature. They can keep messages in the draft as well. Let’s suppose you are trying to send a message to another user. You typed a long paragraph and you decided to send it later. The draft message will be synced to all your devices or send it from another device.

Telegram is also provides unlimited storage. This means all your text messages, documents and images media files will be saved of their cloud. You can log out and log in any number of times from any number of devices simultaneously without losing for any data, and need to worry about backup & restore. You can view the active sessions and see on which devices are you logged in now. Thereby you can download any file any time anywhere. In recently, you can upload a single file of max size maximum 2GB. There is no cap on the total number of files that can be uploaded.

It’s a piece of program which is based on the Artificial Intelligence and machine learning at a small level. It can perform multiple tasks. For instance, an image bot can fetch images from the name. There are several types of bots. Popular bots are Image bot, gif bot, and sticker bot.

The latest feature of telegram supports for both video calls &voice calls which was missing for the long time compared to WhatsApp. The user experience of this feature for both platforms is almost the same. There is no significant difference.

Secret chat is a kind of end-to-end encrypted chat in which one can set self-destruct timer. The messages will be automatically deleted when the timer hits. It’s possibly not able to hack in any way.

How is WhatsApp better than Telegram?

User base: Since 2018, WhatsApp said that approximate 1.5 billion active users whereas in the same year Telegram reportedly had 200 million monthly active users which is quite less than the number of users that are served by WhatsApp. The date more or less that means your friend is more likely to have WhatsApp rather than Telegram.
