Meta has rolled out for interesting updates on Facebook Messenger app. Meta has announced the Split Payments feature for the audio features, Messenger app, disappearing messages with Vanish Mode, and more other features. Some of the features announced by Meta will be available to the US audience initially. In previous, Messenger got end-to-end encryption, screenshot detection, message reactions, and typing indicators. The features were rolled out for Messenger’s opt-in end-to-end encrypted chats.
Announcing the features on Messenger, Meta said that launching Split Payments on Messenger for everyone in the US who uses an iOS and Android phone. We are also introducing voice message recording controls and a mode for sending disappearing messages.
Split Payments feature
The split payments feature, as the name suggests, would let users divide the payments. In order to use the feature, users are required to tap on the + icon in a group chat and choose for the payments tab, and then tap the Get started button. From there users can split of their bill evenly and customize the amount each person owes. They are quite similar to the update to WhatsApp’s voice message feature that the company rolled out in recently. The company said that the friends who are new to payments in Messenger can simply add payment details to send or receive money. They can also enter the personalized message, confirm of their payment details and send the request.
Voice Message feature
Facebook Messenger will soon let users send audio messages on the app. Messenger will soon let users pause, delete, preview, or continue recording a voice message before sending it. This means that now you can record an entire song as a voice message. Messenger has also increased the duration of voice messages from one minute to 30 minutes. They have mixed feelings about the time limit for voice messages getting increased because many people just would not stop recording and it can get really painful to listen to unusually long voice notes.
Vanish Mode
In previously, Meta said that it’s rolling out for new vanish mode on Messenger. This new mode will make users’ messages disappear after the recipient has seen them. The company said that users can also send disappearing memes, stickers, GIFs and reactions. To turn on Vanish mode in Messenger, users need to open an existing chat thread of their mobile devices and swipe up.
