Instagram, is now to move promote safer Internet, has announced several latest features coming to the social media apps. The set for new features includes bulk deleting of posts, comments, and other activities on this social media platform. The Meta-owned social media app will roll out a ‘Your Activity’ option that will allow users to access all the new features. The company has been testing all these features since the end of the last year.
In addition to these latest features, Instagram has also suggested how users can make of their accounts safer and keep them private. Let’s take a look at all the new security centric features announced by Instagram as per their Safer Internet initiative.
Instagram New ‘My Activity’ Feature Rolling Out
The “My Activity” option on Instagram will be hub for a user to check out the latest features. It will show multiple options including time spent on the app, Interactions, photos and videos, account history, recent searches, links you have visited, and much more. This option will be available on the upper right corner on your profile.
Users will be able to manage their content in bulk. They will be able to delete and archive their contents including stories, posts and reels and their interactions such as comments, likes, and story sticker reactions in bulk. It’ll save users more time. In addition to the mentioned features, users will be able to filter of their content based on date and searches.
Instagram is also rolling out the Security Checkup feature across the globe which will help them to make their account more secure. There are times when Instagram has removed a user’s post if that goes against of their community guidelines. The Meta-owned photo sharing app will now allow them to file a dispute by hitting the ‘Request a Review’ button.
Just like the Facebook trust friend feature, Instagram will allow choose two friends whom you can trust while regaining your account. Instagram, will then send them the request about your account. In addition, the people will be able to sort or filter of their content and interactions by date and search for past comments, likes or stories replies from specific date ranges, all in one place. Users can also use this to find content that they have recently deleted or archived, check out your search history, see the links they have visited and the amount of time spent on the platform and download information.
In currently, the company introduced a 'Security checkup' for people whose accounts may have been hacked. Now, this feature is available for everyone worldwide. Security checkup guides people through the steps needed to secure of their account such as reviewing profile information, checking login activity, confirming the accounts that share login information and updating account recovery contact information like a phone number and email address. Now, when users post something that goes against the company's Community Guidelines, it will appear in Account Status.
To access the Account Status go to your Profile and tap the menu in the upper right corner, next tap “Settings” then tap “Account” then tap “Account Status.” They will able to see if any of your posts have been removed, and whether your account is at risk of being disabled. If you think we’ve made a mistake, you can appeal by hitting “Request a Review” directly from your Account Status.
If you see something that should not be on Instagram such as bullying and offensive content, you can report it to us. Our team works 24*7 to quickly review and remove content that goes against Community Guidelines. Reporting on Instagram is anonymous (unless related to intellectual property violations), and the person who posted the content will not know you reported it. This feature shows the status of your submitted reports, as well as your report history. To visit Support Requests, go to your Profile and tap the menu in the upper right corner, next tap “Settings” then tap “Support Requests.” From there you can tap any report to see more information about its status. You can also tap “More Options” for suggested actions to take, such as muting, restricting, blocking and unfollowing the user whose content reported. If you disagree with the action taken on the content you reported, you can tap “Request a Review” to have us take a second look.
